Selected Achievements

- 2006 performance welcomed special guest Yellow Wall Productions artist, Amlak Tafari, bassist for the Grammy
award-winning band, Steel Pulse.
- Award for Achievement for
Violence Prevention from the Drug Free Schools Initiative in collaboration with Project STAY Senior Institute at 8th Street School.
- Opened for Grammy award-winning recording artists Steel Pulse at Summerfest in July 2005.
- 2005 performance was opened by the President of the Milwaukee School Board and featured the return of guest artists and community poets, Kwabena Antoine Nixon and Muhibb Dyer.
- “The Remembrance Tree: A Project for Peace,” a collaboration with Golda Meir School for the Gifted a
nd Talented and the Department of Forestry, began in 2001. The tree was dedicated in a community celebration and was recognized as a significant
contribution to peace in the community. The project continued on September 11, 2006 with “Steps to Peace,” marking a day of reflection involving more than 360 youth.
- 2004 performance was opened by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
