SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
2006 performance welcomed special guest Yellow Wall
Productions artist, Amlak Tafari, bassist for the Grammy
award-winning band, Steel Pulse.
Award for Achievement for Violence Prevention from
the Drug Free Schools Initiative in collaboration with
Project STAY Senior Institute at 8th Street School.
Opened for Grammy award-winning recording artists Steel
Pulse at Summerfest in July 2005.
2005 performance was opened by the President of the
Milwaukee School Board and featured the return of guest
artists and community poets, Kwabena Antoine Nixon and
Muhibb Dyer.
“The Remembrance Tree: A Project for Peace,”
a collaboration with Golda Meir School for the Gifted
and Talented and the Department of Forestry, began in
2001. The tree was dedicated in a community celebration
and was recognized as a significant contribution to peace
in the community. The project continued on September 11,
2006 with “Steps to Peace,” marking a day
of reflection involving more than 360 youth.
2004 performance was opened by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
